About this position

QMill builds quantum-powered solutions for data security and optimisation across defence, telecom, finance, energy, and transport. We turn promising quantum algorithms into products that utilize today's real quantum computers. QMill is headquartered in the greater Helsinki area in Finland, one of the world's leading quantum communities, and we are growing internationally through an expanding network of sites, with the UK among the first. Our team brings together people of many different nationalities, and we are well networked internationally and actively cooperating with the leading players in the field.

We are now looking for a quantum algorithm engineer to join our quantum-powered data security team. You will be based in the UK, collaborating with the research team in Finland and working closely with the local QMill office in UK. Your key goals are to design and develop data security protocols that utilize quantum algorithms and are integrated into our data security products. You will cooperate with other quantum algorithm engineers and software developers in the team.

While an extensive background in quantum computing is not mandatory, we're looking for someone with experience in cryptography, algorithm development and a keen interest in learning more about quantum computation, quantum algorithms and how to use them to solve real-world problems.

What will you do

  • Design and develop cryptographic protocols that utilize quantum algorithms as part of the solution
  • Design and develop quantum algorithms for quantum-powered data security products
  • Cooperate with other quantum algorithm developers and software developers in the team

We are looking for

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cryptography either in academia or industry
  • Knowledge of the basics of quantum computing and quantum algorithms and interest in developing quantum algorithms.
  • Experience in quantum algorithm development is a plus.
  • Strong systematic thinking and adherence to good software development practices
  • Strong background in mathematics, physics or computer science
  • Evidence of efficiency in studies and / or work tasks.
  • Master’s degree in computer science, physics or mathematics. Ph.D. and especially postdoctoral experience are a plus
