Quantum SW & DevOps engineer

We are seeking a Quantum SW & DevOps Engineer to build the critical infrastructure that powers our quantum algorithm and SW development lifecycle. You will write production-ready quantum and classical code, develop tooling and APIs, and help bridge the gap between theory and deployable applications. You will also lead the design, implementation, and automation of our hybrid quantum-classical pipelines. You’ll work alongside quantum developers, AI engineers, and researchers to ensure rapid development, testing, and secure deployment of quantum applications—both on simulators and quantum hardware.

About this position

Are you interested in quantum computing and quantum algorithms? Would you like to be part of a team unlocking the quantum advantage? Do you want to change the world?

QMill is developing new quantum algorithms and software solutions that could solve specific problems better than any existing classical solution. The problems can relate to optimization, simulation and machine learning for example. QMill is well networked nationally and internationally and actively cooperates with the key players in the field. What will you do

  • Develop and maintain production-quality software for quantum algorithm workflows (hybrid and pure quantum).
  • Build tools, SDK extensions, and APIs to support internal quantum developers and external users.
  • Collaborate with quantum and ML developers to streamline versioning and model lifecycle management.
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for quantum-classical software workflows, design and manage containerized environments and build automated testing.
  • Ensure robust testing, logging, and observability across software stacks. Integrate monitoring and logging tools for quantum performance and debugging
  • Maintain secure workflows and DevSecOps practices where needed.
  • Write clear documentation and participate in code reviews and agile planning sessions.

We are looking for

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development. 3+ years of DevOps experience (CI/CD, infra-as-code, containerization)
  • Proficiency with version control, issue tracking, and collaborative workflows and tools like Git, GitHub, GitLab andJenkins
  • Experience with Python-based ML or scientific workflows
  • Familiarity with quantum computing frameworks (e.g., Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane)
  • Experience working with cloud services and APIs
  • Excellent collaboration and documentation skills
  • Knowledge of the basics of quantum computing and quantum algorithms
  • Master level degree in computer science, physics or mathematics. Ph.D. is a plus

What you need to succeed

  • Good at communicating and collaborating with people
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Proactive and creative
  • Efficient and productive
  • Interest and experience in AI-assisted development tools, LLMs, or AutoML
  • Curiosity and passion to explore the potential of quantum computing

What we are offering
