Experienced business development professional (director level)


We are seeking an accomplished Business Development professional to join our team in Espoo, Finland. In this role, you will report directly to the CEO and play a pivotal role in driving the development of a SaaS-based business model with a focus on revenue growth and profitability.

About this position

Our company is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge optimization algorithms, leveraging both classical and quantum computing resources. You will showcase the practical benefits of these algorithms to customers. As the Business Development lead, you will define customer solutions, derive algorithm and software requirements, and work closely with clients to understand their specific use cases and needs.

While a technical background in quantum algorithms is not a prerequisite, we are looking for individuals with a keen interest in the transformative potential of quantum computing, and a willingness to delve into this exciting frontier.

What will you do:

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify target industries and potential clients.
  • Develop and establish a robust SaaS-based business model.
  • Initiate and build relationships with prospective clients, arranging introductory meetings.
  • Engage with potential partners and spearhead initial discussions.
  • Maintain a CRM system to effectively track client interactions and business development activities.
  • Collaborate with product management to align product strategy with market needs.
  • Work closely with the R&D team to integrate customer feedback into technical development.
  • Understand customer use cases and requirements to ensure successful demonstrations.
  • Present tailored solutions to clients and negotiate deals to drive revenue growth.

What are we looking for:

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in software sales.
  • A strong network of contacts within the digital industry, especially among key target groups.
  • Proven success in establishing and scaling a new software business in a high-tech industry.
  • A track record of growing a sales pipeline and achieving revenues of at least €10 million.
  • Experience in product management and a deep understanding of the software business within sectors such as finance, telecommunications, real estate, energy, or supply chain logistics.
  • Previous experience in leading small teams is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and systematic thinking, with an ability to translate customer needs into tangible business solutions.
  • Familiarity with quantum computing and its potential customer benefits, or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with deep-tech R&D teams and translate innovative technologies into commercial value.
  • A technical MSc degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.

  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate the uncertainties inherent in dynamic research fields.
